Should and can-when they meet.....

Should one erase all to begin anew?
Can one do that?
Isn't the idea itself absurd?
How will the first syllables one spoke
possibly drown in the umpteen words one speaks today?
How will the earlier lisp in the words
not echo again-
somewhere, somehow-
when i speak of you?
Is it not too much to demand from the bird-
to leave that nest
where she could not live
but was fed from?
What about her desire to stick the olive leaf
she holds in her beak today
to the dry, withering twigs in the nest-
that she left once
dreaming to come back again?
Is it not too much to ask of her?
Is it not too much to snatch from her?
Is it not too much to claim against her?

  1. What should one make of this verse?
What can anyone make of the bird?
Can the metaphor place a twig in her nest?
Can the bird or should the bird?

  2. I m not sure what was your idea behind this, but to me it certainly depicted the dilemma a women faces at different stages of her life. A nice piece of work indeed !

  4. God, the more i read you...the more i feel, i'm nothing. I'm just a tiny little kid who've just made his first step into this world. Writers are one of those people who are very close to understanding the god's creation. You truly belong there...and i want to be there. There's a lot you need to teach me ;) :P ( Please, no matter how ancient you are )

  5. Hello Khayal,

Gosh! How lavishly you praise me! One takes first steps, Khayal, before one begins to walk. And you forget that i was trained to appreciate words for five years at college. You have just begun to savour college. Enjoy your time. Have fun. Read, write, explore. And i am sure you shall mature soon enough into a decent writer.

P.S. This blogger hates inflated compliments...:D

  6. haha lol keeping fingers crossed :P And please stop being so modest, you are good...great in fact...never leave this, very few are gifted. N so what that you are trained to appreciate words for 5 years !! I see tons of people around me with a major in engineering , and knows nothing about it...:P ( I think i'm gonna be one of those , soon xD ) And yeah, i second Sriram on this one, it does depict the different stages of a women's life.

P.S. Even this blogger hates to brag too much, helloo...i'm a Libra ;)

  7. Well, i did not write that keeping in mind the dilemmas faced by a woman during her interaction with the world at large. But i would not deny the possibility of a subconscious push towards it. May be my specific location within a particular social, cultural space influenced such a line of thought. On the other hand, it is also true that the tale much more than the teller intends. I mean when Tulsidas wrote Ramacharitmanas, i wonder if he would have imagined the same being read as an anti-feminist work....:) I hope i convey what i intended to. However, it is enriching to learn of what readers think of the works produced. Thanks Khayal,do pour in more observations.

P.S. If Librans do not brag' too much, prove the same and restrain from exaggerations. It is no modesty on my part. Plain realisation of my limitations.

    Enjoy and take care.

  8. Yeah well i agree upon that. It all depends upon the social, cultural background of an individual that what he or she might think of a piece of writing. Like for example you said tulsidas, he must have not have thought of his work as an anti feminist but some of us took it that way. So yea, it differs from person to person.
And that's the thing about writing...though the lines are same...every individual interprets it differently , in their own unique way. :)

P.S. Well i'm pretty extrovert in that way, i felt that so just said it. Also, though i know you must be knowing it but, Dont ever create boundaries. There are no limitations, a man can do wonders by exploring...So just go on, let it flow.

    Regards :)
